My Approach to Helping

I believe that all humans are deserving of compassion and the freedom to be themselves and to live a meaningful and enriching life of their own making. My goal is to help identify barriers that are preventing them from living that meaningful life and to help them work towards it.

I am trained in numerous methods and I have a large toolbox of skills and strategies. With each client that comes to me, I mindfully pick and identify which strategy best suits his or her needs and goals at that time.

I also have a Masters in Human Sexuality which I use in working with clients who have relationship difficulties, psychosexual problems, or any concerns related to their intimate life and relationships. Due to the sensitive nature of some of these dynamics, I see couples and individuals depending on the needs of the client. In all my work, I use evidence based practices that have been supported by both the APA and research. Finally, I approach therapy with a nonjudgmental attitude and treat all my clients with compassion and understanding so that therapy is a warm and welcoming environment where you feel safe to work on challenging aspects of your life.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy

I believe that therapy is a collaborative process where the goal is to help my clients live an enriching life. You are an expert in your own life and I am an expert in Psychology, together we work together to help you identify any barriers or challenges and move past them so that you can have a life of purpose and value. My job is to not tell you what to do but to help you identify your own goals and pathways to those goals. As our needs and goals change, so should therapy. Thus, I view myself as flexible and integrative with numerous methods. I believe that therapy should be nonjudgmental and supportive while also challenging you and encouraging positive growth.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

Every client is different and offers a unique experience. Each and every one of the people I see have their own stories, strengths, and struggles. All of my clients offer their own unique perspective and I genuinely enjoy getting to know and help each person. When people come to therapy, it is typically because something is not working in their life and I love being able to be a part of their life and helping to support them and making their life more workable and meaningful. Being able to witness and be a part of someone's transition from a difficult place to a place of success makes my work as a therapist incredibly rewarding.
