My Approach to Helping
I draw on Gestalt as my philosophy for living and personal growth. In my therapeutic work, my aim is to increase the clients' awareness of their strengths and blocks to change, growth and fulfilling relationships, and exploration of how they might create a better way of being in the world. My particular interest lies in attending to the unique ways each person relates to others and events in their lives. I have extensive experience of working with individuals as well as couples, whatever their sexual orientation. I also offer personal development and therapy group facilitation.
More Info About My Practice
I work regularly with counselling trainees, artists and people, who are faced with changes in their lives, search for meaning of their existence or want to define their identity. As a Gestalt Therapist, I am open to influences from other disciplines, in particular integrative body therapy, contemporary Self Psychology and Buddhism. My clinical practice is also inspired by a wider field of art and movement.
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
I am experienced in working with people who have more specific problems, are depressed, anxious, and those who feel frustrated, angry or insecure. I have considerable experience in providing therapeutic intervention to people who seek help on the advice of a GP or psychiatrist for debilitating complaints, including psychosomatic and stress related symptoms, sexual concerns and compulsive behaviour.
How Psychotherapy Can Help
I work in a gentle and invitational way, providing safety and support that nurtures my client's authentic self, facilitates self-expression and creativity, and increases capacity for intimacy with others.
