My Approach to Helping

You may be coming to therapy feeling overwhelmed or alone during life transitions, relationship challenges, depression, anxiety, grief, or loss. You may want to heal old trauma, change negative thought patterns, and break free of self-doubt. Or you may be feeling ready for deeper personal and spiritual growth. I support clients with these and many other issues in a warm, nurturing, non-judgmental way, informed by over 12 years of psychotherapy experience and a lifetime of dedicated spiritual practice.

My speciality is working with people who seek not only healing and balance but also richer meaning in their lives. I use a blend of practical, evidence-based, and depth-oriented approaches including: Attachment-Focused EMDR, IFS-Oriented Parts Work (Internal Family Systems), Hakomi Somatic Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, and Ecotherapy. You could also describe my work as humanistic, trauma-informed, relational, emotion-focused, and client-centered.

I believe that therapy begins with the creation of a container of safety and trust. From this place, we can invite the unheard, misunderstood, exiled, or wounded parts of your being into awareness, welcoming them with love and respect. I have a strong commitment to the collaborative process of therapy, and a belief that mutual feedback and checking in on your goals regularly can help therapy progress more effectively. With all clients, I give invitations to practices, exercises, or experiments to explore in-between sessions, such as journaling, trying out new ways of being in the world, tracking thought patterns, meditation, or invitations to explorations with nature. I have a strong belief that therapy works best when it is a full commitment to a process, not just an hour a week in a therapy session.

My Therapy Focus

I believe our most challenging moments can be sacred doorways to transformation. We each have a deep inner wisdom and tremendous power can be found when we connect to this. My approach in therapy honors this wisdom on all levels - body, mind, and spirit. I also believe it is vital to reconnect as a part of the living system of nature, and through this wisdom, reclaim our true sense of belonging and humanity.

I believe our beings are always moving towards balance & integration. The work of re-patterning outdated protection and management strategies we've understandably built up, but that no longer serve us, allows us to finally be able to say yes to our full, authentic self. I work with each of my clients from the perspective of their inherent wholeness, beyond any symptoms or wounding. This is a positive and life-affirming approach.
