My Approach to Helping
You are not alone. I offer down-to-earth, jargon-free counseling. I will meet you with warmth and curiosity, humor and heart, right where you are. I have been a therapist for 20 years, and I still love my job because I get to see people find a sense of purpose and overcome adversity. I work well with adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, and feeling "stuck" in life.
I welcome diversity of all kinds. I am LGBTQ+ affirming, radically inclusive, sex-positive, and an anti-racist ally. I welcome all genders, sexual orientations, races, cultures, faiths, abilities, sizes, and lifestyles. I am also a musician, a mother, and a partner who enjoys hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains, traveling to remote beaches, the smell of a campfire at night, exploring local farm-to-table restaurants, and tubing down the river with my kids.
My therapeutic approach is integrative and ultimately tailored to each person's individual unique needs. I incorporate evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) along with mindfulness-based and somatic techniques.
