My Approach to Helping
Relationships shape us. The experience of being seen, accepted, and understood by another person is a basic human need that when not met can lead to feelings of isolation, loneliness, and other painful emotions. Transformation and healing happen in the moment and in the context of relationships. My approach is non-pathologizing, relational, emotion-focused, somatic, and rooted in mindfulness, interpersonal neurobiology, family systems theory, and infused with a healthy dose of humor when appropriate. I am trained in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) , which seeks to "undo aloneness" and to heal relational trauma through the therapeutic relationship. Further, my 13 years as a registered nurse working with death and dying lend to our connection a unique sensitivity and capacity for understanding and holding the whole of the human experience.
Our work together will be present-tense, creative, collaborative, challenging, relational, transformative and in service to your goals and healing. I support families and individuals seeking to heal intergenerational trauma and to build authentic connections with themselves and with their loved ones. I believe that anxiety, depression, loss of meaning, and relational conflicts are but some of the ways a longing for authentic connection seeks our conscious and loving attention.
I look forward to connecting with you soon!
