Developing Effective and Meaningful Treatment Plans

Presented by Maelisa Hall, PsyD on 11-17-2017 at 9 a.m. Pacific (noon Eastern) to 11 a.m. Pacific (2 p.m. Eastern)

Training in treatment planning can be elusive and usually focuses on specific requirements related to contracts or funding, not general use for the average clinician. Learning how to develop a collaborative treatment plan is a valuable clinical skill that is often overlooked in private practice. This continuing education opportunity will teach the fundamental components of treatment planning that are based on ethical guidelines and standards of care while providing insight as to how they can enhance care, improve therapeutic rapport, and increase client engagement.

In this two-hour continuing education web conference, private practice paperwork expert Dr. Maelisa Hall, will share strategies for creating effective new treatment plans and provide detailed information to help clinicians modify treatment plans for individual preference and create a more meaningful experience within the therapeutic relationship. Dr. Hall’s strategies for modification will be coupled with practical tips for saving time in session and achieving more successful therapeutic outcomes overall.

Dr. Hall is known for facilitating interactive presentations and this event will include the opportunity for attendees to create a sample treatment plan in real time. Dr. Hall will provide a treatment plan template to attendees to use during this event and in their own practices. Attendees can also share their own treatment planning questions, comments, and experiences.

This intermediate instructional level web conference is designed to help clinicians:

  1. Explain ethical standards related to treatment planning.
  2. Describe potential components of a treatment plan.
  3. Identify standards that insurance companies like to see in treatment plans.
  4. Identify a treatment plan template to use in clinical practice.
  5. Create a collaborative treatment plan that incorporates individualized feedback.
  6. Apply strategies to evaluate the effectiveness of goals throughout treatment.

Maelisa Hall, PsyD

Maelisa Hall, PsyD is a licensed clinical psychologist living in Long Beach, California. She is the owner of QA Prep, where she offers online trainings and clinical consultation in all things documentation. Like her interests, her clinical experience is varied and includes psychological testing, clinical assessment and diagnosis, field-based therapy, and crisis response intervention.

Training is Dr. Hall’s true passion and she loves to help therapists connect meaning to the typically mundane task of paperwork. After years working in quality improvement, she has noticed confusion, anxiety, and resentment related to documentation are all too common for mental health professionals. Her experience has shown her most professionals care deeply about their work and find documentation much easier when they are able to connect how paperwork can actually make a meaningful impact.

Dr. Hall provides online training programs for therapists in private practice. She also travels as a speaker and trainer on the topics of improving documentation and ethics. She maintains an active blog and provides free monthly trainings for therapists through her website, qaprep.com.
