My Approach to Helping
I believe that my work is to help my clients listen to their stories, be mindful of their bodies, and become aware of their internal experiences in order to be more deeply present with the self. Out of this rootedness in their humanity, I believe that my clients can make decisions that are inline with their core being. I often tell clients that my job is to help them slow down so that they can hear themselves. I do not approach therapy as the \"all-knowing\" therapist. Instead, believing in my solidarity with my client in both weakness and strength, I look to work with the client to help them uncover their own answers to their life journey.
I approach each client as an individual with unique qualities and stories. I am an eclectic relational therapist who utilizes both talk therapy and experiential therapies (i.e. art therapy, therapeutic use of literature, etc) to explore the client’s internal world. I seek to help the client find coping skills (DBT) that work for himher to replace those that are ineffective and use EMDR to help clients with specific traumas.
